For EU citizens, a valid ID card or passport is sufficient. No visa is required for a tourist stay of less than 90 days.
The official languages are Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian, but English is commonly spoken in the major cities.

The official currency in all three countries is the euro (€), making payments easy for European travelers. Bank cards are widely accepted, even in small towns.
- May to September: Best period, with long days, pleasant temperatures (15-25°C) and many festivals.
- December to February: Cold, snowy winter, perfect for discovering Christmas markets and frosty landscapes.
- March and October: Fewer tourists and beautiful autumn colors, but a cooler climate.
Baltic cuisine is rustic and flavorful, featuring dark bread, potatoes and smoked fish.
Some must-try dishes:
- Cepelinai (Lithuania) : Large potato dumplings stuffed with meat or cheese.
- Sklandrausis (Latvia) : Traditional pie made with rye pastry, carrots and potatoes.
- Kilud (Estonia) : Small pickled herrings, served with dark bread and cream.
- Kama (Estonia) : Mixture of ground cereals often eaten with milk or yoghurt. Local beer and Balzams (Latvia) : Herbal alcoholic beverage with a bitter, intense taste.
The Baltic States are at GMT+2, i.e. +1 hour ahead of France in winter and +2 hours in summer.
