A few essentials to know

From France, direct or stopover flights serve Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai. Average flight time is 11 to 14 hours.

We recommend a stay of at least 10 days to get a good overview of the country. A 3-week trip allows you to explore Bangkok, the north and the southern islands at your leisure.

  • Passport valid 6 months after entry into Thailand
  • No visa required for a stay of less than 30 days (for French nationals)
  • For a longer stay, a tourist visa is required

The official language is Thai, but English is commonly spoken in tourist areas. Here are some useful words:

  • Sawasdee (ka/krab) : Hello
  • Khop khun (ka/krab) : Thank you
  • Sabai sabai : Everything's fine, relax
  • Mai pen rai : It's not a big deal (Thai philosophy)

The local currency is the Thai Baht (THB).
1 euro is equivalent to approximately 38 THB.
Market machines are plentiful, but cash is recommended for small purchases.

Thailand enjoys a tropical climate, with three seasons:

  • Dry season (November to February): ideal for visiting the country
  • Hot season (March to May): high temperatures, especially in the north
  • Rainy season (June to October): frequent showers, but good time to avoid crowds

Thai cuisine is famous for its balanced flavors of sweet, salty, sour and spicy. Don't miss:
